The user will first answer questions within the sizing spreadsheet to determine the list of installation components and their sizes. Different use cases require different components – for example only a migration requires an Ingres database save. The spreadsheet will determine the appropriate size of each component based on user input. An additional set of questions will prompt the user for available disk drives/partitions, and their sizes. (These are not automatically calculated, since the user may not be running the spreadsheet on the target system.) Next, the user will be able to use the spreadsheet to map each installation component onto one of the specified disk partitions. As each is mapped, the “available” space on that partition will be reduced by the size of the installation component. When finished, the user will be able to click a button to confirm that (a) all of the installation components are mapped to some drive/partition, and that (b) all of the drives/partitions have a reasonable amount of leftover space to ensure the success of the installation. If the user’s mapping works, the user will be able to generate an instruction sheet that provides answers to each question that the eHealth installation process asks (including those by CreateDb.) Gets The mechanism correctly determines whether a customer’s proposed disk configuration will support an eHealth installation The mechanism allows the user to change their minds about which disk partitions should hold a given eHealth component (e.g. Oracle, database files, customization files) and thereby develop and experiment with strategies to place all eHealth components appropriately The mechanism covers all use cases (fresh installs, migrations, upgrades) The user will be able to save their current responses (by saving the spreadsheet) to modify their answers later Don’t Gets The mechanism does not drive the installer. “Running” the spreadsheet causes it to generate instructions on how to answer the queries that the installer will ask The sizing spreadsheet can only run on Windows, since it is an Excel spreadsheet. It will not be integratable into the UNIX installation process in the future.
